Compare the two photos. Which is 'better' and why? Depends, doesn't it? If you want to study the particular behind the tree trunk, you'd be thankful for the first picture and the second would be useless. You'd have to guess. If you wanted a full picture of the tree at the forefront, the first picture would be frustrating and the second a revelation. I'm reminded of the times my focus is compromised, perhaps by my attitude, my knowledge, the day I just had or any number of determinants. It's a reminder to me to shift perspectives so that I consider the object of my focus and my lens. Either could be 'off'. |
