So, begins our story. A little school with BIG dreams. Passionate. Curious. Wonderers. Investigators. Constructors, Creators, Reflectors. Inquirers. It is our hope to fill these pages with examples, photos, thoughts, stories. Thank you for listening in.
September, 2014
Well, September was weird. There's no other word for it. Weird. We were in strike. Not pleasant. But I've told other people, "What you feed grows" and our staff was determined to make the best of a sad situation. The time walking the line gave time for reflection, time we could not, or would not have taken. It built a closer community of our small staff, as we shared stories of our summer which morphed into stories of our lives. We shared past sorrows and joys, a well as future hopes, hopes for ourselves, our families, our Willoughby community of parents and students, our larger community of Langley and our world. That was the gift in the midst of it all. |

WILLOUGHBY WARRIORS UNLEASHED ON THE WORLD WITH PROJECT WILD Today, for our Pro-D, Lorraine arranged for 17 teachers, mostly from Willoughby, (plus some other brave souls) to meet with Lisa from Project Wild. Lisa guided us through numerous activities. (Okay, they were silly games :)) The activities were certainly fun ways to build community. In addition, they were steeped in curriculum, specifically exploring ways for students (and teachers) to explore the WILD (habitats) and think critically about how our ecosystems function. Willoughby likes Project Wild ! To check out Project WILD , click here. "Project WILD now has a introductory video available on YouTube. Watch the video to see Project WILD activities in action and listen to comments from a host of educators. Click here to view a short (4 minute) video or click here to view our full length video (8 minutes)." * as found Oct. 24/14 @ http://www.projectwild.org/aboutus.htm |
