Photo above from https://www.facebook.com/howe325 | How do you handle the daily grind? You know, those small, everyday ups and downs. just missed that parking spot. someone took the last cup of coffee and didn't make more. Recently, I was involved with a group of teachers who decided to create a video of their learning. We all met for a day to video, which took considerable planning and effort. When another teacher and I reviewed the material later to create an i-movie, we realized the sound quality was so terrible, there was not way we could use the material. Disappointment. This was the point at which we could have dissolved, ranted, raved, cried or given up. We didn't. We certainly groaned and were discouraged, but then pulled up our socks and set about finding a creative way to solve the problem. Maya Angelou writes, “I’ve learned… that you can tell a lot about people by the way they handle these three things; a rainy day, lost luggage and tangled Christmas tree lights.” I wonder if I would have handled our little setback with as much aplomb and determination had I not had a partner who was positive and proactive? When I reflect on this experience, I realize I have the power to make decisions on those rainy days when the christmas lights are in a tangle. Still hope I don't lose my luggage! |
